Set up copy trading
Copy every fill from a master account to child accounts with multipliers, caps and reverse mode.
How it works
When an order fills in the master account, each child account in an active setup receives a MARKET order for the same symbol:
child quantity = master quantity × multiplier, rounded down to whole lots, then capped by the child's max (if set)
Exits, square-offs and kill-switch closes in the master are copied too, because they are fills.
Create a setup
- Open Terminal → Copy trading → New setup.
- Choose the master account.
- Tick each child and set its multiplier (for example
0.5for half size), optional max quantity and reverse if the child should take the opposite side. - Save. The setup is active immediately; use the Active/Paused button to pause it.
Copy trace
Every child order appears in the copy trace with its result:
- OK — placed, with latency.
- FAILED — with the reason, for example the child's kill switch is on.
- SKIPPED — the quantity rounded down to zero lots.
Fair rotation
All children are sent at the same moment, but one still reaches the broker first. The send order rotates trade by trade: if a setup has children A, B and C, the first trade goes A, B, C, the next B, C, A, then C, A, B, and so on. No client is always filled last. The # column in the copy trace shows each child's position for that trade.
Execution quality report
Reports → Copy execution quality shows, for each child account over the chosen period:
- Copies and Missed (failed or skipped copies).
- Avg send position: with rotation, every child averages about the middle.
- Avg ack: master fill to the child order being accepted. Median fill: master fill to the child being filled.
- Worse than master: how many fills got a worse price than the master's.
- Slippage: the child's fill price against the master's, times the filled quantity, in ₹ and basis points. Positive means the child got a worse price. The copy trace shows the same per trade in Fill vs master.
Use it to show clients that copies were executed fairly.
Fit to margin
Tick Fit to margin in a setup to check each child's broker margin before every copied entry. The child's quantity is reduced to what its free margin allows, or the child is skipped, instead of the broker rejecting the order. The copy trace shows when a child was reduced. Exits are always copied in full. Angel One children are not checked, because Angel One has no published margin calculator.
Rules
- Orders placed directly in a child are not copied.
- An account cannot be a child in one active setup and a master in another (prevents chains).
- Accounts used in a setup cannot be deleted until removed from it.
