How trading charges work in India
Every executed order carries statutory charges on top of brokerage. STT applies to equity and derivatives sells (and both sides for delivery). Exchange transaction charges and the SEBI fee are a small percentage of turnover. Stamp duty is collected on buys. GST of 18% applies to brokerage, exchange charges and the SEBI fee.
On options, most charges are calculated on the premium, not the notional value — which is why frequent small option trades can see charges eat a large share of profits. The platform's Reports apply the same calculation to every trade you make.
