Connect an AI assistant (MCP)

Connect Claude or another MCP assistant to your accounts to ask about your P&L, positions and orders. It can't place orders.

TradeBridge runs an MCP server (Model Context Protocol, the open standard AI assistants use to connect to apps). Once connected, you can ask your assistant questions like "What is my P&L today across all accounts?", "Which positions are open in my Zerodha account?" or "Why was my last order rejected?". It answers from your own data.

What the assistant can do

It can It cannot
List your accounts with today's P&L and status Place, change or cancel an order
Read positions and orders (with rejection reasons) Turn the kill switch on or off
Get quotes from your own broker feed (or the simulated Paper market) Change your risk limits or settings
Search instruments (lot size, tick size, expiry) See your broker passwords, tokens or API keys
Read your risk limits and trading guardrails See other users' data
Explain why an order was rejected, with the steps to fix it
List orders waiting for your approval

Optional: let it propose orders. If you tick Let it propose orders for a connection, the assistant can put an order in Waiting for your approval. Nothing is sent to your broker. You get a notification (and a Telegram message, if Telegram is linked), and the order is placed only if you Approve it within 5 minutes. All the usual checks run again at that moment: kill switch, risk limits, guardrails, lot and tick size. Exits proposed by the assistant wait for your approval too.

The assistant gives no investment advice and won't tell you what to buy or sell. It describes your data and you decide.

Connect by signing in (recommended)

  1. Turn on two-factor login (Settings → Security), if it isn't on already.
  2. In your assistant, add a custom connector (or MCP server) with the MCP server URL shown on Settings → AI assistants. It ends in /engine/mcp.
  3. The assistant opens a TradeBridge sign-in page. It shows the assistant's name and the address it will send you back to. Check both, choose whether it may propose orders (off unless you tick it), and press Connect.
  4. You're done. The assistant renews its access by itself, and the connection appears on Settings → AI assistants as Signed in.

Access from a sign-in lasts an hour at a time and renews automatically for up to 30 days of use. Revoke ends it straight away: the assistant can't renew, and has to ask you to sign in again.

Connect with an access token

Use this if your assistant asks for a token instead of opening a sign-in page.

  1. Turn on two-factor login (Settings → Security), if it isn't on already.
  2. Open Settings → AI assistants. Enter a name (for example "Claude on my laptop"), choose whether it may propose orders, and press Create access token.
  3. Copy the token now. It starts with tbm_ and is shown only once. We store only a fingerprint (hash) of it.
  4. In your assistant, add a custom connector or MCP server:
    • URL: the MCP server URL shown on the page (it ends in /engine/mcp).
    • Authentication: send the token as a Bearer token, i.e. the header Authorization: Bearer tbm_….

You can create up to 10 connections, for example one per device or assistant. The list shows when each was last used.

Revoke

Press Revoke next to a connection. The assistant loses access straight away. If you think a token has leaked, revoke it and create a new one.

Good to know

  • Each connection can make up to 120 tool calls a minute.
  • Quotes marked live come from your own broker feed. They are for you alone: don't share them on.
  • The assistant's answers are only as current as the data at that moment. Check the Dashboard before acting.
